Greetings and Welcome to Carolina!

American Indian Studies is a program that focuses on studies of Native American culture and history. It currently has eight affiliated faculty members and one program assistant. Our activities include:

* offering courses in American Indian subjects;
* hosting speakers on Native American topics;
* supporting Native American student organizations with public activities;
* working with the N.C. Commission on Indian Affairs and other organizations to help meet the needs of Indian communities in this state.

The program was started in 1998; an undergraduate minor in American Indian Studies was established in 2003.
